How Much More Can I Bear?

5/28/2017

Comments

Don't get stuck. Sometimes we get stuck in our own fog. Nyisha's  poem is a prayer for the removal of fear, worry, and  doubt.  We must never forget that those emotions will hold us back.  There is so much sky beyond the fog. Take off  and fly free.  Thank you Nyisha for sharing your words.

-Faith

How much more can I bear?

In this life, many times
I've known poverty, distress,

Lack and limitation,

But how much more can I bear?

My tears salt my food, leaving trails of pain tattooed on my face.

Hope is lost in the shadows of my fear.

Faith is frozen beneath the icy stones of doubt.

I want to give up.

How much more can I bear?

I am not strong enough to do this alone.

How much more can I bear?

Dear God,
I need to feel your grace and mercy
I am alone and fear has defeated me.

I've been lost without light
Enlighten me Father.

Deliver me...
Hold my hand, hear my plea.

Take this pain away so that I may feel peace .

Father be my peace.

Be my Armor to fight this battle.

Bring out the warrior within me,
removing all fear, doubt, and worry from my heart.

Restore my faith and hope.

Restore my soul and make me whole again.
Your child.

Ain't Nothing Like It

5/13/2017

Comments

Ain't nothing like jumping into a sea of your wishes.
Ain't nothing like choosing to trust your feelings.
Ain't nothing like giving way to your ambitions.
Ain't nothing like listening to your intuition.

Ain't nothing like breaking free.
Ain't nothing like creating what you want to see.
Ain't nothing like it.
I tried to fight it.
But it just wasn't me.
Even when I tried.
I couldn't ignore all the voices inside.
Telling me to take the road way less traveled.
Telling me to ignore the outside voices...
That say it's way more hassle.
That  say go and work for someone else.
The ones telling me not to believe in myself.
Telling me to go apply for that job.
Instead of telling me to go create one of my own.
I'm tired of singing that popular song, "I was laid off."

So I quit.

I won't lay me off.
But I will fire the old me.
That scary girl is history.
I asked her, "what you come for?
Cause if you don't want more...
Then you can't sit with me."

Honey you better be...
Ready.

To only live faithfully.
And I pray that anyone and anything that tries to block my faith be removed.

Ain't nothing like living the life that you choose. That you want. Not the one forced on you.

Ain't nothing like it.

Epilogue

Ode to Faith

Ain't nothing like it.
The feeling of Faith.
It's wrapped all around me.
It forever astounds me.
It continually crowns me.
When I forget that I'm a queen.

Faith, you are my everything.

    Faith Underwood, Curator

     Writer. Poet. Lover.

I'm sure that poetry was my first writing love.
It was already in me and then I ran into, Nikki.
Nikki Giovanni, and maybe a little Sister Soldier.
Such beautiful words. The flows, behold her.
My love for words and rhymes increased as I grew.
While listening to the realest Lauryn Hill,
And a whole bunch of Erykah Badu.
My writing hands were sprinkled with tunes of Aaliyah.
    And Alicia. And Anita Baker.
Missy Elliot was the hottest on the block.
Singing is it the way to my words..
    Like the songstress Jill Scott.
TLC bodied the sexy in me.

So I now bring my own words of inspiration. Words of meditation. Words to get you thinking bout that night. Words to help you feel alright. Words to... share parts of me. I pray that you receive them readily.

    FAITH U.
